Nice pictures and in my opinion we can never see too many of them. I am very careful around flowers in Thailand whether in pots on porches or in fields because of my fear of snakes--but flowers can be appreciated at a distance. I like to buy the flower necklaces. The Thais make fun of me but I don't care. I like flowers.

Thanks for the pictures Mike! I especially like the field of sunflowers. There's definitely no lack of flowers in Thailand.

Sawadee,

Glad you liked them. I used to have a couple of hundred of these pics of Thai flowers I took over the years. I did it mainly for my Dad, who was housebound and ill and suffering from the frigid winters and snow of Boston's weather. He liked to get these flower pics and they brightened up his winter days and he asked me to continue sending one with my e-mails to him. Sadly I have lost many of these pics from a PC crashing. The thing is, I see flowers here everywhere every day. Each month has its seasonal flora, and the colors change with the seasons. And many village yards are planted with seasonal blooms to beautify the homes and villages. Our village planted many of the Kii Leg trees along the road leading into the village. These bloom with many small yellow flowers and really are beautiful to see when it happens.

I meant to place some text in the posting but became too busy and forgot to do so the next day when this posted up.

Sawadee, the sunflower pics were taken in Saraburi. Big sunflower festival there every year when the sunflowers bloom. Nice to see acres and acres of sunflowers there, and many sunflower products to buy all around the city and surroundings (oil, roasted sunflower seeds, sunflower cakes, etc.). Also nice to go to the vineyards there at the same time. Fresh raisins, grape juice, grapes, (sadly not much good wine yet though really) etc. Also good to go to the 'Seven Sisters Waterfalls' outside the city. Some nice clean and inexpensive hotels in Saraburi too with hot water showers and AC. And, try the rotis in the evening from the Muslim family who have a roti cart in front of the Mosque on the main street. Good stuff!

I've actually been to the seven sisters, although it was way back in 1998. I do remember that it was beautiful, and that we played around in some of the pools. When is that sunflower festival? I might just make it down there for that if I can.

Yes certainly is. For sunflowers the best place to go is to Mae Sarieng which is on the road out to Mae Hong Song past Pai. In August the sunflowers there are just incredible with many fields full on both sides of the road (great motorbike trip).

Flowers are everywhere in Thailand. From decorated floats and street parades, to the well known Chiang Mai flower festival.
