I was looking for Amm. I had called her mobile a little earlier but some bloke had answered so I just hung up. I figured I’d just go and see her at work then, so I trotted along to her place of employment on Soi Cowboy. Bollocks! She wasn’t there. According to Oi, she wasn’t feeling very well and had taken the night off. I assumed that was bargirl speak for “She’s already been barfined and she won’t be back tonight.” I was disappointed. I know there are plenty of other girls and plenty of other bars but I like Amm. Mostly, I like her because she likes me. She gives me the GFE. It’s the little things. She kisses me when I don’t expect it. And she wakes me up for sex in the middle of the night. I sat there for a while looking into my beer. Just me, alone with my despair.
Then I saw Meaw. She waved at me from the stage and when she finished dancing she came down and sat next to me. “Sawasdee khaa khun Hin, you remember me?” she purred. Of course, I remembered. A week previously, my Austrian mate Carl had barfined her. I had barfined Amm at the same time and the four of us had run around town together until we finished up at the nightclub in the basement of the Ambassador Hotel. After that, Meaw had retired with Carl to the Amari Watergate and I had roughed it with Amm at the Rajah Hotel.
“Amm not come tonight” Meaw volunteered. I nodded dejectedly. I couldn’t be sure if Meaw was suggesting a breach of bargirl etiquette here or not. She might have been about to but I just couldn’t do it. Although Carl had already gone back to work in Hong Kong, Meaw was still Carl’s girl as far as I was concerned. It was just too soon. And anyway, Carl is younger, much better looking and a lot richer than me so I didn’t want her making any unfavourable comparisons. Not to worry, another opportunity was unfolding so I pulled myself together and reminded myself of how lucky I was to be living in Bangkok.
Dao was service. Unlike Meaw, Dao worked with her clothes on. Inspite of this, she had got my attention. Her skin colour, facial features and womanly shape reminded me of a young Shirley Bassey. I offered her a drink which she accepted and she sat down next to me. I resisted the temptation to make any remarks pertaining to ‘Big Spenders’ or ‘Goldfinger’ which I fear would have been wasted on her anyway. When I asked, Dao informed me that she was from Buriram. There’s something about Buriram girls. I really will have to go there one day. Meaw excused herself and went back to work on her chrome pole leaving me to chat to Dao. Presently, I paid her barfine and we left.
To cheer myself up over missing Amm I made up my mind that tonight would be a bit different. We would do something a bit more spicy than your average short time hotel room or even your average long time hotel room. Tonight, there was decadence afoot. Located on Soi 33 is a boutique hotel. It has a swimming pool and various bars and restaurants. There is also a Jacuzzi in most of the rooms. That was it. I would have a soapy experience with a young Shirley Bassey lookalike in a Jacuzzi. So I pitched the idea to Dao. She accepted it as if it was something she did every night so off we went to Livingstone’s and checked in.
Once alone in the room, I cracked open the mini bar and turned on MTV. Dao joined in the spirit of things and quaffed a very large gin and tonic while I got the Jacuzzi going. The Jacuzzi in this particular room was a big one. Actually you could probably fit three go-go girls in there with ease should you feel inclined but I stopped my mind from wondering too far in that direction as the splendidly naked Dao slid in next to me. I don’t know how long we played about in the Jacuzzi and it was huge fun but we couldn’t stay in there all night so eventually we climbed out and moved back to the bedroom. By that time, I was about as primed as is possible to get. The tub, the beautiful, naked Dao with her long hair and honey coloured skin had me stoked up good and proper. We flopped down on the bed together.
And then it happened. Dao starfished me. I tried everything. Every trick I knew but nothing worked. Dao was a five point, stuck to the rock, starfish. I had never felt so frustrated. No matter what I did, Dao remained unmoved and assumed the ‘I’m going to sleep’ position. I kissed her ear, blew in her navel, nibbled her throat until finally and almost in desperation, I whispered in her ear, “Khun Dao, Jaa. Khun chop phuying mai?” Her eyes opened slowly and she looked at me intensely. Apart from that, her face remained expressionless. “You like?” she said gently. I smiled and nodded. “Just a moment , I call my friend.’ I eased back on the bed and checked the time. It was still only half past midnight. Maybe this would work out OK.
Dao reached for her phone, pressed a few buttons and spoke to someone in Lao. After hanging up she turned to me and said, “OK, my friend coming now, maybe thirty minutes.” I adjusted the lighting down a little and lay there looking at the ceiling. Dao shifted her body to a slightly more friendly position and we waited. Just before one o’clock there was a gentle rap on the door. Dao got up to answer it. I didn’t move but I could hear Dao and another girl talking in muted tones. A moment later Dao slipped back into bed next to me and a soft, slightly smaller female body slid under the sheet on my other side. Maew snuggled up tight against me and purred in my ear, “Sawasdee khaa Khun Hin, you remember me?”.
