I too have had my dreams, and met
(Ah me!) how many a Juliet…
Arthur Symons
Juliet for a night I know
I’m not much of a Romeo,
Balding, elderly and fat
(But no less desperate for that);
More of an old Lothario.
You said, ‘I’ll love you long time,’ so
Why is it you have to go?
Perhaps you’re only playing at
Juliet for a night.
In our lovemaking’s afterglow
I foolishly thought love could grow,
But you got dressed and asked for baht,
Broke the illusion, left me flat,
And sadly proved that you were no
Juliet for a night.
