You can apply for a Google AdSense account on its homepage. You can either go there directly using this URL http://www.google.com/adsense/, or just click the Google AdSense banner a bit further down the page in the left column. The latter is prefered as this gives us, ThailandStories, credit for signing you up as a customer. Once loaded, click the 'Click Here to Apply' button to start your application.
You will be presented with a large form for you to fill out; I'll run you through what you need to enter for each field.
In the first section, Account Type, enter:
Account type: Individual
Country or territory: (select your country from the drop down)
In the next section, Website Information, enter:
Website URL: www.thailandstories.com
Website language: English
The next section is your Contact Information, you will need to fill this out accurately as this is where the checks will be sent to.
The final section is Login Information where you enter your Email address and Password. The email address and password is what you will use to login to your AdSense account once it is activated.
After you have entered all your data, and verified that it is all correct, click the Submit Information button.
Check that the data you have entered is all correct and click the 'Create Account' button if everything is in order. An email will be send to the email address you specifieda and it is important that you read this and click on the link in that email. Clicking this link will validate your account.
Next you'll have to wait for Google to check the site to see if it is appropriate. Once they approve your account (which may take a few days) you will receive another email and your account will be activated. At that point you can go to http://www.google.com/adsense/to login to your AdSense account.
Completing your application
After logging in you will have to complete your information. Go to the My Account tab and select Account Settings. Click the [edit] link behind Payment Details. On the next screen select the form of payment you wish to use and click the Continue button. Next select the currency you wish the checks to be made out in. Click Save changes to conclude this part.
Next select the Tax information tab and use the wizard to help you select the correct tax form. Once you have successfully submitted this information your account is fully active and you can start to receive money.
Google will pay out at the end of every month once your earnings have accumulated $100.
Your publisherID
To find your publisherID click the AdSense for Content tab, and if necessary the Ad layout code link below it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Your AdSense code section and you will see a box containing some Javascript code. Find the line that says: google_ad_client = "pub-xxx"; (where xxx is a series of numbers).
The entire value between the quotes is your publisherID. Copy this value and send it by email to mo@thailandstories.com ; we will link the code to your account settings for this site and you will start receiving the revenue the Google Ads on your story generate.
Payment release
After using your account for a while you will be shown a message saying "Your payments are currently on hold. Action is required to release payment. Click here for details." on your account's overview page. Don't worry, this is normal.
When this message appears Google will have send you, by regular mail, details and instructions to verify your account. Follow those instructions to enter your PIN and verify your account. Once done, your are ready to start receiving cheques.
