How to Bar Fine
Ticojay, February 1, 2010

Our suggestions for a book with this title received international acclaim. Several readers on the WWW requested their friends in Bangkok buy extra copies to send them. Nobody has a better focus on what matters most than guys sitting in topless go-go bars. We’ve tried to write a bar fining guide for idiots. But succeeding with bar fines is more difficult than most imagine and our continued screw-ups with them mean we really don’t know how to bar fine, yet. So our efforts on this project remain a work in progress but our book outline is a classic.

English Only
Ticojay, January 25, 2010

This Village Daily Special Report was banned in Malaysia at the International Conference of English Teachers with Strange Accents. The Annual Thai English Teachers Par Three Putt Putt Rodeo in Chiang Mai banned it for two years in a row. The Bangkok Post sent us back the burnt ashes of their complimentary copy. These reactions tell us it remains an insightful look at the business of teaching English in Asia.

Santa Claus – the Patron Saint of Prostitutes
The Saint, December 14, 2009

As a young boy I was brought up ‘in the church’ as the phrase goes. I was a Catholic altar boy (never molested, thank Christ) for years. I was taught Latin in school by nuns and priests, a ‘parochial’ school as it is called. There the boys entered one door in the morning, and the girls in another. The ‘sexes’ (even at that young age) were kept separated.

Debauchers Are Your Friends
The Saint, September 20, 2009

As I sit many a night in some den of iniquity in this city of knaves and harlots I tend to people-watch between gropes, inane conversations with the agogo dancers, and swilling my over priced brews and satanic concoctions (what exactly are in these mixtures anyway). I watch my fellow scopophiliacs as we sit awash in the aural bombardment of that seemingly ubiquitous ‘song of songs’ --- Hotel California.

Take me! I'm yours!
The Saint, September 12, 2009

I approach Asoke and stand on the corner overlooking the crossroads of the magnificent abortion of this city square. The traffic growls and snarls as it awaits the countdown lights to reach ground zero. Motorcycles amass at the head of the queues, like storm clouds on the horizon, revving their tinny engines reminiscent of Nascar race drivers at the starting line. It’s loud and noxious.

Whiskey Galore
SiLeakHunt, July 14, 2009

Fifteen, twenty years ago a mate of mine had had a bag full of Britain. The details are tedious but if we were reading his autobiography we'll pick things up at the point where he was on a jumbo jet heading for Bangkok, flush with his last three months wages and the little equity he'd managed to pull out of his terraced house in Stockport.
